It was a Bubbly Adventure in Korbel Sonoma
Last October 11, 2024, the girls finally settled on dates, making our trip to Sonoma California a reality!
We got a perfect planned on our 3-day trip! The first one is to visit Korbel Champagne Winery!
Not only because champagne has a deep connection with me, but also because my girl friend Traci is so well-versed about planning trips, making sense on what we need to do. She did planned our trip to Paris as well, so we all trusted her to be our event planner, plus she knows that I love champagne - she thought going to Korbel first thing to do on our itinerary would make sense. I feel loved to be honest. The act of making your wish come true is the most amazing feeling. Even at this age, I say - it mean so much to me.
Like you were a kid again and your favorite thing in the world come to happen. It is just different. I will be talking about this trip forever in my life. I am very grateful for all my friends that become a true friend here in America. I treasured them and they are in my heart forever.
Our visit at Korbel was one of the bubbly adventure in Korbel Sonoma CA.
We explored the beautiful Korbel Champagne Cellars which brought us back to 1882. Korbel was founded by three Czech brothers - Francis, Anton, and Joseph Korbel - the winery initial focused on cigar boxes before transitioning to winemaking. They adopted the "methode champenoise" process, where sparkling wine is fermented in the same bottle it's served from.
The company was purchased by Adolf Heck in 1954, and his son Gary Heck took over in 1982. Under Gary's leadership, production expanded significantly, making Korbel the 16th largest wine producer in the United States by 2022. The lady tour guide elaborately explained this to us, while walking around the room showing us the "methode" of making champagne.
Korbel has also been a favorite at U.S. Presidential inaugurations, serving its champagne at 10 such events.
We were captivated by the charm of the champagne house, learning about the intricate process of creating their world renowned champagne.
That's a bit of the history about Korbel!
We almost did not make it to our champagne tasting - one lady said, we are closing soon and we do not have any tables available. We found an empty table at the corner of the room and so we pointed that to the lady. She said, "Okay, let me see what I can do!" Crossing our fingers to hopefully give it to us.
The line behind us was getting longer; it seems like no one knows what time they are closing.
Then the second lady came to us and said - "We do not have any tables available and we are closing in 30 minutes." "We will offer two glasses of Champagne and stand at the bar!" "Naah!" We told her and pointed out the table at the corner was being cleaned, and that is supposed to be ours!
Thank Goodness! We got the table!
Looks like, they did not communicate.
Anyway, we tasted 5 different kinds, from dry to sweet. The girls didn't care for some of them, but I said to them, "just lined them up behind my glasses of which kind, I'll take care of them!" For some reason, I have a very high tolerance of alcohol, especially champagne.
I think, I got this from my Dad! He could drink every day with Coconut Wine (Tuba), and he gets home fine. It's just that, he'll fight to anyone come his way. I don't do that though! Lol!
This visit was one of the best! Although, we encountered unexpected rain shower on our way out - but that's about it, those moments only added to the adventure.
We found reasons to laugh and cry with our crazy conversations, it builds trust on each other and building lasting memories.
Overall, our time at Korbel Champagne tasting in Sonoma was a mosaic of enchanting experiences, stunning and joyful camaraderie. It was a trip that left us all enriched and eager for the next adventure.
Traci gracefully put in her time and effort in researching places to go to. Which I will be sharing with you on my next blog! We also stopped by at Redwood, where over hundred years old tall trees, just stunning to see and be three experience it. Lisa and Karen were the best company to have on this trip as well!
