Planning a party or any special event can be quite a task, especially when you're trying to make it fun and memorable!

Recently, I organized a bowling birthday party for my son for his 13th birthday, and I'd like to share the details of our experience.

1. Choosing the activity: About two months before his birthday, I asked him what he wanted to do. His initial response was, "I don't know!" After some gentle prodding, I presented him with three options:
   

   1. Birthday party at home

   2. An Escape Room

   3. Bowling

Thankfully, he finally settled on bowling! Now the real planning could begin!

2. Avoiding the Home Party Hassle: In the past, I've hosted birthday parties at home - inviting guests, preparing food, and dealing with the aftermath. This time, I decided to skip the home party. No more cooking, cleaning, and stress!

3. Booking at Bowlero: Two weeks before the big day, I called Bowlero, Melissa, the event coordinator, provided me all the details.

• 7 kids

• Large Pizza

• 10 hotdogs

• Tray of chips and salsa

• Unlimited soda (3 options) - Fruit punch, Lemonade, Sprite, and Water

• 10 game room cards with $10 credit

• 2 hours bowling

• Bowling shoes plus free 4 pairs of socks and shoes for grown-ups.

• No food is allowed to bring inside, except cupcakes or cake.

Confirming the date and to secure the payment:

• I paid 50% upfront ($119.00) to reserve the date and time

• If you need extra food, mention it during the final call which was 3 days before your event.

• Note: start with a low total number of kids attendees; you can always adjust later during the final call.

• No refunds if guests don't show up.

I booked for 7 kids, only 5 showed up, so I lost $62. Just saying! :)

• Our final bill, including tips, came to $394.85

• Again, tips were already included.

• We took home some pizza and hotdogs leftovers.

• No alcohol included

4. Decorations and Fun:

• Bowlero did an excellent job with decorations

• The celebrant's name was prominently displayed in big, bright letters on the counter. Parents thought that I brought that with me :)

• No more searching for our lane - it was impossible to miss!

• The server Mark, took care of us the whole entire time was amazing. The type of service where you never raise your hand!

5. The Outcome:

• An intimate gathering with close friends and family.

• Everyone had a blast!

• Kids enjoyed bowling and playing at the game room, they want more money to continuously play.

The kitchen is currently under renovation, so menu choices were limited. Definitely coming back and can't wait to see when it is fully done.
